Chennai is the treasure of temples and Jeeva  Samadhis. I had the chance of Visiting the Padagachery Sri-la-Sri Ramalinga Swamigal on Sunday 30th December 2012. This may be the last post I will be posting in 2012. I will undertake the Padha Yathra to Thirupathi from Chennai on 31st Dec 2012. When I was travelling to Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalangal in and around Kumbakonam I had been to the Nageswaran Temple in Kumbakonam, one of the Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and  Sri-la-Sri Ramalinga Swamigal mutt at Padagachery.  This makes me to visit jeeva Samadhi at Thiruvotriyur. Since I could not locate, the exact place, I sought the help of my friend.  He took me to the Jeeva Samadhi through his motor cycle from Thiruvotriyur Railway station.  Even though my friend advised me to reach by 16.00 Hrs I was able to make it only at 17.00 Hrs.  It was an wonderful  experience for me, when I meditated in the Jeevasamadhi. Both Sri-la-Sri Ramalinga Swamigal and Appudu Swamigal jeeva Samadhi are in an industrial area on a private property.  The keeper/in-charge  told me that I was lucky enough to get the dharshan at the first instance it self.  And also he advised me to visit on Thai Poosam day to see the mutt  in which the articles used by Swamigal are kept.

Some of the salient features of Sri-la-Sri Ramalinga Swamigal are….

Swamigal was born in 1870, a Village in Coimbatore District to a Telegu family from Andhra Pradesh. . After his parents demise, during his young age,  went with Sri Erithatha at Bellary of Karnataka State. Also He was initiated by Sri Ramaling Vallalar at the age of 13.

Came back to Nachiyarkoil near Kumbakonam and wandered like Dhigambarar ( Nirvanam ), It irritated  the muslims and gave complaint. He used to meditate  with parts of the body separated ( Navakandam ). He  worked  with a landlord to look after the cows.

After seeing his power the villagers of Padagachery requested him to stay at Paadagachery and accepted their request.

He is very keen on serving Annadhanam to the peoples and Bairavars ( Dogs ). He had constructed a madam at Kumbakonam  and served annadhanam to the peoples before moving to Chennai. And also he worshiped Erithatha Swamigal, Nepala Swamigal and Appudu Swamigal at Kumbakonam.

He used to serve food to Dogs. For the He asked to keep food on the banana leaves including the quantity. When he calls the dogs will come and eat. The miracle here is the no of food on the banana leaves  served will match the no of  dogs arrived.
He cured the decease of a Nattukottai Chettiar and one mr Sammanna of Karnataka State, those are washed off by the hand of Doctors. He also used to give herbal medicines to the peoples.

During construction of Rajagopuram at Kumbakonam, due to shortage of fund to disburse, he gave handful of sand to the workers which turned to wage for the day they worked.

He is the instrumental in constructing the Rajagopuram of Sri Nageswaran Temple at Kumbakonam. For that he collected money from the people hanging a metal pot ( Chembu ) from his neck. For the kumbhabishekam he served annandhanam for more than one lakhs peoples. His image in sudhai sirpam is available at the first level of the Rajagopuram.
Once he made to move the train after the devotees get in to a train, when they were asked to get down for not having the tickets.
